Metalproof Foil Products
METALPROOF FOIL WATER BASED INK
Announcing a new breakthrough in direct to substrate foil effects. For the first time, a water based photo sensitive foil-proofing ink can be used in the creation of special foil effects. Metalproof Foil water based ink yields a highly reflective, ultra brillant finish, and replicates Metalure® printing ink from Avery Dennison®*, which is a popular alternative to hot stamping or printing on foil substrates. This unique, silver/chrome ink is intermixable with all Spectratech water based products for tinting to golds or custom colors. MetalProof Foil Ink has the same working characteristics as Spectratech.

DIRECTPRINT LIQUID FOIL
DIRECT TO SUBSTRATE FOIL IMAGING PROCESS:
For the first time, a direct-to-substrate imaging method for a highly reflective metallic, chrome-like effect has been perfected. DirectPrint Liquid Foil is a major breakthrough in proofing. This product is in response to the increasingly widespread use of Metalure® printing ink technology. Metalure® is a revolutionary, highly reflective metallic printing ink that is gaining in popularity among designers and has replaced some hot stamp printing and use of foil papers. Instructions for various proofing processes, including custom colors are available. DirectPrint Liquid Foil, which replicates the Metalure® printing ink, is a "drop in" product, utilizing already existing support materials. A foil effect can be produced on the new OptiGloss proofing substrate or other white stocks. Please call for details and instructions.

THE OPTIFOIL ADVANTAGE
Simulating "Hot Stamp" metallic foil images for prototypes or short run used to be difficult and cost prohibitive. Some color imaging suppliers have a "foil system" but may utilize commercial hot stamp foil which is a thin material made to release with a high temperature application. Thus it is hard to produce, yields poor image quality and unpredictable cold transfer characteristics.
Now the distinct effect of foils used in printing and label design is brought to life with the OPTIFOIL advantage, which combines color brilliance with repeatability. The advantage also lies with the ease of production combined with many options for special effects and additional colors. OPTIFOIL Transfer Base is a specially metallized film specifically made for the color imaging transfer process. Use OPTITRANS/OPTIFOIL Adhesive or CC Adhesive only method.

CUSTOM FOIL SYSTEM FOR TRANSFERS
Demand for custom color foil simulations requires a liquid ink reflective finish. The desired color can be applied as a tint with the Custom Foil Ink (silver base) behind. This process has been used in beverage can mock ups, cosmetic packaging and prototypes of paperback books. The "silver/chrome "dries to a highly reflective finish and is ideal for matching custom colors. It can be imaged as a high- gloss transfer or printed onto clear stocks such as Mylar or shrink film. Custom Foil Ink can also be sprayed/air brushed onto canisters and other irregular surfaces and can be polished lightly with a Webril™ pad to a bright and shiny surface.
The new, registered image-only CC Adhesive method replaces most other processes for finer detail transfers. All Custom Foil Transfer colors have been re-formulated into Hi Rez Sealer and are matched to basic colors in the popular mixing guide. Finished images, including fine detail are more easily transferred to virtually any surface leaving no residue. Direct to stock printing method has been developed. See DirectPrint Liquid Foil. FOIL DEVELOPING GEL
During the OPTIFOIL Process, the image area is produced and protected by the exposed photo emulsion and Foil Backing Ink. Foil Devoloping Gel is used to etch away the excess metallized area.

FOIL BACKING INK
Because the metallized surface is delicate, a specially formulated "white" backing ink is needed. This creates a more durable and flexible transfer. OPTICOLOR Foil Backing Ink is a lightly pigmented resin designed for sharper images and less undercutting by the Ink Developer and Foil Developing Gel.
